Heating

My heat doesn't seem to get real warm, and takes a long time to get warm. Is this just a thermostat issue, or something else. Also, every once in a while the winshield will fog over and the heater puts out a antifreeze smell like the core is bad. Then it goes away. When it happens, it lasts for like 5 minutes. 2000 Passport

Sounds like you need to have the cooling system flushed; your heater core is possibly on it's way out.

It's a good idea to flush these systems every other year; every year preferably though.

Go ahead and change your thermostat as well, while it's all being done. But I don't think the problem is only the thermostat; sounds more like heater core issue as well as maybe a blockage somewhere in the system.
