i beleive that the ect button is for like extra power on take off. it tells about in in your owners manual.
i think it changes the shift patterns. you'll need to read up on it. my truck is a 5 speed so i have never used it. as far as the overdrive use it 45 mph and over. but just cruising around under that with OD on it will just bog down when you accelerate quickly, and may cause train on your clutches, the owners manual has a section on it too.

The overdrive button turns the overdrive off, which is to say it keeps the automatic transmission from using 4th gear. I use this all the time in the mountains when I am going up a hill and the transmission cannot decide between 3rd and 4th, or it stays in 4th gear and I just end up slowing down. By turning overdrive off, I stay in 3rd gear, my RPM's go higher and so I have more power to continue my speed or accelerate up a hill. The manual actually says to leave overdrive on to improve fuel economy and turn it off when needed. Think of it as a 3rd/4th gear shift button.

As far as the ECT Power button, that changes the shift point in RPM's (or speed depending on how you look at it) between gears. Again, I find this helpful going up steep hills and need to keep my momentum going. When the RPM's shift at a higher point, you have more speed and so when you get to the next gear, the engine won't bog down.

I do sometimes use both buttons at the same time.

Prerunner with TRD is exactly what I have. Essentially it means you have a 2wd pickup with the look/stance/ground clearance of a 4wd (Prerunner part) and the TRD package gives you upgraded suspension, bigger tires/wheels and in some cases a locking differential option. The differencial option is only on the 6 cyl model I believe.

Hope this helps.
