silvy is dying, or is it?

Today I took my silvy out for a drive to the local grocery store, parked it and came back out in about 15 minutes....when I turned the key to start it....the engine did not want to start...you only heard the engine for like less than 2 seconds trying to start and then dead....I tried a second time, and it started...this happened 3 times today....all during the course of the day....does anyone know what this is...?

Could be your starter, battery, or any wires between the two. they would be the easiet fix anyway.

Re: silvy is dying, or is it?

To test for the fuel pump...have a buddy take a hammer and beat on the gas tank during one of the times that it wont start. My father ran his work van that way for 2 weeks. But if it still doest start i'd say take it to a mechanic and have them do a few tests and check somethings out, theres no point in buying all sorts of things that arent needed just cuz they mite fix it. a mechanic could tell you what is wrong and then you can decide if you wanna fix it yourself and it'll prolly cost no more than a set of spark plugs ($62 i just wasted on mine).

Re: silvy is dying, or is it?

No No No...I'm sorry but not to bag on you for the beating of the gas tank comment but DONT DO THAT!!! If its the pump then the best way to check that is to turn the key to the on position without turning the truck on though...You should here the fuel pump prime up, try starting it!!! If it doesnt work then do the same thing again...turn the key to the on position but his time let it prime then turn the key back off again! Then back to the on position again then off again, then one last time to the on position then try starting it!! If it starts right up then its your pump!!!

Re: silvy is dying, or is it?

Thanks for your replies you guys, it happened about 1 week ago, about 3 times that day, and the next day only happened once. I haven't had any problems, now for a couple days....so I hope it ain't happen again....weird things with this truck are coming, i don't know, i remember about 2 months ago, i was driving and the truck just shuts off, turned it on again, and drove for like 1 mile and it shut off again....turned it on again, and never happened again....anyways, thanks for all your replies....
