f-350 vs ram3500 HELP Please

I will be hauling a 32 ft 14-15000 lb gross weight trailer from the east coast to the west coast and back. a minimum of 6 times.
Do I want the v8 powerstroke diesel of the f-350 ford or do I want the inline 5.9 6 from cummings on a ram3500. also do I want a drw or single.
the f-350 calls for 12500 max trailer conventional but the ram calls for 15950 max trailer conventional. Is a v8 international harvester powerstroke diesel better or more powerful then a 5.9 cummings diesel?
these are both 2004 pre owned trucks both with 5000 muiles and both for the same dollars.. I am finding it hard to see what difference there is
Help?? Please

Re: f-350 vs ram3500

I would go with DWR on witch ever you get with that big of a trailer. Other than that threre is not much I could tell you both should be able to handle the trips, but the Ram probley gets better gas millage while the Ford should pull better over all.

Is the Ram a Cummins 600:2004 1/2 auto or man? If it is an auto I would go with the Ford.

How about some more info on the trucks configuation and such.

I don't know it's up to you what do you want. I'm suprised that the ram doesn't have pwr window or locks. And it is a man. so if you are ever in traffic you may regret getting a man. The '05 Ram does hae more torque, but same hp, but the ford still can pull the same size load alot faster.

so if I'm worried about getting up over the three mountainranges, then the ram is the way to g.. but if I want to make it there in a reasonable time period, then the ford is the answer!

Thanks for the info

Re: f-350 vs ram3500

That is close but not quit what I was saying the Ford can out accelerate the Dodge hands down here is an example out of Motor Trend they are using 3/4 ton trucks but the same motors as the 1 tons. They tested the trucks with a 8500lb trailer boat combo and towed at a 3% grade the Ram pulled .014g at 55mph, and the Ford pulled .029g at 55mph. And this is with the Cummins 600lb-ft of torque motor both were autos.

Here is another example out of Truck Trend they used 3500 Cummins Ram with the 600 man, and a F-350 with a 6.0l auto. Both trucks had DRW and four doors. And towing a large trailer doesn't give weight the Ram went 40-60 mph in 13.16 seconds and 0-60 mph in 25.84 seconds. The Ford did 40-60 mph in 10.6 seconds and 0-60 mph in 19.82.

So going over mountains or in a strait line the Ford is going to be faster, but the Dodge might get better fuel economy. In Motor Trend they said the Dodge got best fuel economy in Truck Trend they said the Ford got better fuel economy.

I own a Dodge and it's agreat truck, but I would get the F-350. Right now I have a 2500 Ram and I plan on trading it in on a F-350 crew cab dually. That powerstroke is all that.

Re: f-350 vs ram3500

unless ford has made some serios improvements from the 2003's , i would pick the dodge. with all the injector and transmission problems the 2003's have at least you know you will get there with the dodge. i own 2 of the 2003's and nothing but one head ache after another. one of these trucks sat in texas for 5 days while ford tried to figure out why it quit and could not be started again.
