Brake squeal sometimes happen, as long as you are sure that the pad indicators are not scratching at your rotors...dust builds up under the pad and helps create this..if you pads are good you can try this if it's that annoying..remove the front caliper, and disc, sand both sides of the disc with emery paper, clean both disc and pads with brake kleen, (buy that at auto store)...reassemble...as for the rough idle could be as simple as a cracked vacuum line, a dirty egr valve of in need of a tune up, my neons idle very smoothly...a side note on the brake squeal, make sure your rear brakes are adjusted correctly, I believe the braking ratio is 60% front 40% rear, if the rears aren't adjusted correctly your front brakes work harder and glaze more quickly...good luck
