1990 Cadillac Fleetwood wiper problems
1990 Cadillac Fleetwood rear wheel drive. The wiper motor continues to run even after turning the wiper switch off. Replaced the wiper motor and switch and still have the same problem. Bad ground maybe? The radio quit a while back, and found a ground problem with it. Which wire to the switch is supposed to be ground?

Re: 1990 Cadillac Fleetwood wiper problems
Could possibly be the switch going bad. Had that happen in a non-Cadillac before.

Re: 1990 Cadillac Fleetwood wiper problems
Yeah check ground an all connections again. My Camaro once did something weird about parking the wipers and it was a loose connection if I can remember 25 years ago.

Re: Re: 1990 Cadillac Fleetwood wiper problems
I would also recommend using dialectric grease on the connections to the wiper motor. They get exposed to to the elements under the hood so it will help with the contacts.
I had a similar problem with our '82 Fleetwood. Ended up doing the same as you did, motor and switch. Now, a few years later, the wipers are flaking out again. Time to dig into it again I fear. Dave |

Re: 1990 Cadillac Fleetwood wiper problems
For some reason one of the wires (I believe the purple one) always has power running through it. So it might be a connectionin the motor electonices thats grounding out somewhere causing the motor to run.
