1975 Grand Marquis
Bought a 1975 Grand Marquis for $875 today; looks a little rought but drives & runs great, took the interstate on the 45 miles home, 75 miles an hour with the cruise set the whole time. Anyway, I've got a little problem. I've popped the hood afew times since I've had it, and it'salways opened up fine. However, Iwent out a few minutes ago to check the transmission fluid, andIcan't get the hood to pop. the knob you pull to open it won't budge. Anyone know what could be causing this?

I'm not familiar with a GM that old.
However, try this - have someone inside pull hood release while you are outside and try to lift hood. If you get hood up - lubricate hood release mechanism & cable. If you can not lift hood, try spray of WD40 up thru grill towards latch. Likely cable or hood release latch meets some motion lotion. Cheers! |

Re: 1975 Grand Marquis
Yeah; pushing down on the hood while someone pulls the release usually helps out. Lube the hell out of it.

Flambou!
Had the same thing happen to me. Watched my stuff go up on fire cause the hood would not open. Total loss.
