cylinder clean question

I need to clean out my cylinders to further diagnose my 351w. Can i pull the spark plug and spray some carb cleaner or something in the cylinder and turn the engine over a few times to help clean them out? Perhaps hold my thumb over the plug hole to buil up some pressure, will it blow some of the buildup out? Or if any1 knows of a another way, please let me know.

The engine is running rich or not burning all the gas up in the cylinders, so im gonna clean the plugs (new plugs, but they are black), put some restore in the oil, and see if it helps. If not, i'll do a compression check to see if its the rings or valves, incase any1 was wondering. Thx!!!!!

If your car is too rich, what is looking in the cylinder gonna do for you? Your problem is with too much fuel, not that its not burning enough, unless you know something more to the problem?

Also, if you want to clean your cylinder, rev the engine to 2500rpms, and use water through the intake. Use one of those garden misters for the water. The cleanest engiens I have every seen, are the ones that use water injection.
