Question rear passenger door wont open

HELP!! I have a 2000 Passat V6 and the rear passenger door wont open.
Is there any way to release the latch? The local VW guy tried putting a really long screwdriver along the window to pop it but no go. Can't get the panel off without having the door open...catch 22

Re: rear passenger door wont open

my '99 rear door is stuck too. It will open if I pull the handle from inside, and then...sometimes, it will open with the outside handle. But only if I pull the inside handle first

Unlock the doors and take a needle nose pliers and pull up on the lock knob and open the door from the inside. Its most likely that the bracket that holds the loor latch to the door pannel broke (plastic $3.00 part). It causes the lock rod not to fully unlock the lock. Happened with ALOT of 04 dark blue jettas on pass rear door where the person at the factory assembling the door incorrectly installed the bracket and you couldnt open door.
