A4: 1.8T, 1.8T Quattro, etc. Differences
What are the differences in the 1.8t, 1.8t Quattro, and the 2.8t?
I'm a real newb to cars. Any Performance differences? if anyone has any knowledge on this please let me know, thinking of 95-2000 year if needed to know. |

The 1.8T is the 1.8 liter 4 cylinder turbo (I think), the 1.8T Quattro is the same engine but with Quattro all wheel drive. and the 2.8T is the V6 I think. I drove a Jetta with the 1.8T and it was pretty quick (VW owns Audi, if you didn't know, therefore they share engines to cut costs).

anything quattro from audi means it all-wheel drive...the 1.8T is exactly what porscheguy999 said...1.8 liter, inline-four cyclinder, turbo charged engine...the 97-01 model produces 150 hp and 155 ft-lbs of torque the 02 to present model produces 170 hp and 166 ft-lbs of torque...there is also a 2.8 liter V6 engine...the 96-97 model produces 172 hp and 184 ft-lbs of torque while the 98-01 produces 190 hp and 207 ft-lbs of torque...in 02 they switched to a 3.0 liter V6 which produces 220 hp and 221 ft-lbs of torque...i dont know of any 2.8T...the T at the end means turbo...but there is a 2.7T which theyve put in the 00-02 S4 and some A6s...and while im at it that engine produces 250 hp and 258 ft-lbs of torque...i know thats a lot of info i just got started on a roll there...sorry...but i hope ive answered all your questions...and dont forget to search the forums...most questions you might have were probably already asked and answered somewhere here...oh and one last thing...they didnt make an A4 in 95...just fyi

the main difference between the 1.8T and the 1.8T QT is the all-wheel-drive system. The 1.8t QT is also heavier then the 1.8T which means its a little slower in the 0 to 60 time. The QT versions also have some other lux. that the 1.8T does not have such as wood int. ext.
