93 GA wheel grinding noise

This car sounds like it's going to fall apart. Just started yesterday all of a sudden. Almost constant grinding sound at any speed from the left front end especially when turning left. Had it on blocks and no sound. Possible wheel bearing? How tough to do yourself if that's the problem. Thanks!

Re: 93 GA wheel grinding noise

Could be a sticking caliper as well but it does sound like a wheel bearing. As for changing it. Do yourself a favor and get yourself a chliton or haynes service manual. Good Luck

Just got back from the local shop and they said it was the wheel bearing. They also want $179.95 for each bearing plus labor. I went to the local Advance auto and they said the shop just called for the part. I bought it for $69. Quite the ripoff some of these places.

Ayep, lesson learned, but the parts yourself, and give them to the mechanic to install. The downside is being certain you bought the right part, and a p***** off mechanic who has to tell the owner they couldn't make any money on the parts sale, lol.
