hot 92 rodeo will not start

Hey All:

Hope someone can help!

If I drive my 92 rodeo around for 20 minutes and then shut it off for 3 minutes, the engine will not start. It does crank but never catches. I will try to turn it over but will give out. When I do get it started, the procedure was to turn the key, let the key go and press and hold the gas pedal down to the floor. If it catches what will happen is that well its almost like the engine is thinking about starting up. The idle is almost at zero and is hovers for a couple of instances and the the idle just goes up. The engine is started.

Any ideas??

Thanks

paul

Yes, I believe I do there is a noise after I release the key and the starter stops.

Two sounds are made.
