2001 Grand Am headlamp

Hello,

Got an '01 Grand Am...need to change the headlamp...but of course it is nothing like the book says (who would expect?). There appear to be 2 bolts that need loosened on top, then the book says pull the tab on each side, and the whole assembly will pull up and out. Well the outer half of the fixture wants to come out, but the innerhalf seems bolted in somewhere. It mentions nothing else in the book. Does anybody know what else needs loosened?? Thanks in advance!

You should see two star-headed bolts for each headlamp. These are strictly for adjusting the angle of the headlight beam. About an inch behind these bolts, you will find these black metal tabs. The sit vertically to hold the headlamp assembly into the bumper, and then they make a 90 degree bend at the top, facing towards the engine. Once you have the whole assembly taken out, find the wires going to the headlight bulb. carefully twist the black ring(they are very easy to break, so be careful) and then you can twist the bulb sideways to remove it. After that, you'll need to put the assembly back into the bumper/car. It'll take some effort to get it all lined up and then push those black tabs back down to secure it back in place. Hope this helps!!!
