Re: tips needed to mod 1st car(CRX)

You know what I think? Buy and read some Honda performance books since you don't have a clue. Also a repair manual from www.helminc.com will be very helpful.

After that I would get the car current on all maintenance then worry about mod's.

Re: tips needed to mod 1st car(CRX)

thanks for the advice hybrid, i guess i'll stick with the stock motor and see what i can get out of it. should i just get a cheap intake or are the more expensive ones worth the price?

Re: tips needed to mod 1st car(CRX)

well alot of peeps would tell you I/H/E is the way to go, but thats if your Rex is in good condition. Meaning if its working properly, runs fine with no leaks, I would go for a tune up and save your money for a swap in the near future... just wait for the K20 series motor price drops down and it becomes more popular and easier to get. thats what i would do.

As for an Intake, its not about the price or brand, i mean IMO its about the filter on how much air it can let you breathe. Just make sure you have your rex looking stock and running like a champ for now...worrie about other stuff later.

Re: tips needed to mod 1st car(CRX)

intake is a intake in my eyes, i just run a stock air box with the bottom cut out and a k&n drop in filter, i like the stock look of it.
dont worry about the k20 thing either, the price of those motors wont be coming down for awhile, or the mount kits either.

best swap for you, i think would be a sohc vtec, its bolt in and the swap costs around 600 or so. so its cheap and its 130hp. maybe like i/h/e and a cam or something and that will get you your 150hp

anyway.

you could build your a6 to be a rather nice first car. intake, exhaust, header, cam, and intake manifold and it'd be beating up on z6's.

I say keep your motor you have now and learn off it, you could build it into a pretty mean machine if you really wanted to work the internals. I had fun with my a6's before i did a swap.

Oh and the zc. Two motors acutally share that code. One is sohc and makes about 120hp and the other is dohc and makes around 140ish. the dohc would probably be fun to place with, but the sohc is basically the same thing you have now just with higher compression.
Listen to Hybrid. Keep your d16a6 in your car for now and get to know your car better. Read my reply in your other post for "mod" suggestions.
