2000 Century Auto Transmission

Hello,
OK.. I Have Done All The Research On My Problem From The Help Of The Other Threads For This Transmission And I Will FirstTry A Filter & fluid Service To See If It Will Take Care Of The Problem.
The Problem Beingriving 15/20 Miles And Hard Shifting With A Wine From The Transmission After I Have Made A Stop At A Stop Light. If I Pull Over And Shut Off The Engine (for 3/5 mins) I Can Go 10/15 Miles Before It Does It At The Next Stop Light.Note Downshifts Are Fine.
The Century Custom Has Just Turned 50,000.Got It Used And Drives Like A Small Caddy. The Radio Suxs But I Can Deal With That.
My First ?
I Picked Up A Filter Kit (Pro-King #FK-190) From A Auto Parts Place And Was Told It Would Work On The 4T60E I have In My Car.Is This The Transmission I Have? It Has 20 Bolts. My Vin# Has The Letter J In It If That Helps.
My Next ?
I Have Herd Of An Additive Called LUB-GUARD.Is This The Name Or Does Someone Like Gumout Or STP Make It? Where Can I Get It?
Any Help Is Welcome,And Thanks To All Who Have Posted And Helped Make Me Know That I Am Not The Only One With This Problem.Anyway I Will Do The Service On This Transmission As Soon As The Backyard Is Dry.Gooday To All. DAVID 52

My 1999 Regal LS had a similar problem. The replacement tranny filter seemed to fix the problem. What ever you do, do not do a full transmission flush service. Just replenish the ATF fluid (Dextron-III) to the proper level in park with the engine fully warmed up.

Because it had 95K miles and to be safe, I added a transmission additive.
Slick 50 High Mileage Automatic Transmission Treatment. It is recommended for vehicles with at least 50K miles or more. The shifts have never been any smoother. Plus it reconditions the ATF fluid that still remains in the system, torque convertor when you perform only a filter change.

Your transmission model should be 4T65E. Good luck!

Cooling system

I have worked on several of these about the same year model and I have found that in most cases your cooling system needs flushing. It might be the same in your case too. Let me know if that helps you out.
