I just finished puting a front wheel bearing on and I just pulled it out of the shop and the power steering pump failed.
This is a 2000 Montana with 106,000 k on it and it has been nothing but problems. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem with the power steering. The impeller drive shaft twisted off at the splines, and what would cause this?? |

Was it cold outside?
Generally when it is, there might be too much load on the pump due to the viscosity of the fluid. It is best to let the vehicle warm up a bit before being too hard on the wheel. The spline breaking is not a common occurance on these vans. They might have had a bad batch of pumps though. I hope this helps. |

It just came out of a warm shop so the oil wasn't very cold.
