Re: won't start

Too much water in the tank or bad gas maybe? Might try drainging the tank and putting fresh gas in.

don't know specifics about your model truck and am certainly no mechanic, but you may want to try the following:

If your truck has a fuel pressure regulator, check it
Check the fuse to the fuel pump
Does the fuel pump have a safety shut-off that may have to be reset?
Even new fuel pumps can be defective, check to see if it is even running

Re: won't start

Having been sitting for that long in storage it is a damn good possibility that a mouse has gotten into the wiring somewhere. I have seen people with similar problems after the vehicle has been in storage and that is what the problem was. If i remember correctly it was around the fuse panel under the dash too, but could be anywhere. Those little buggers like chewing the insulation off. Either that or it is so badly carboned up from just ideling now and then for the last 2 years, just a thought.

Re: Re: won't start

went and got new plug and a throttle position sensor. and unhooked one injector. and it started i hooked both injector up and it started. took it down the road and it died right before i got to the house. i wait about 30 min. and went back out and unhooked one injector and it started but was smoking white real bad so i think it is the fuel pressure regulator so that what i am going to try next.

Re: won't start

You said it died right before the house, and what's with unplugging one injector? I don't know what that's doing. Aside from the normal tune up items: cap, rotor, wires, plugs, fuel and air filters.....what about your IGNITION MODULE located under your distributor cap, bolted to the distributor itself. If it is the original one(GM logo), it probably has seen better days. Moisture and heat get to it and it goes bad anywhere from 60,000 miles all the way to 180,000 miles. They're only about $30 and can be tested at your local parts store for free. They can cause hard starts, no start(hot and cold), and rough running drivability issues. Hope this helps -Chris 96 Z71 5.7L All stock
