Battery Alt Issue?
I have a 95.5 Rodeo that consistently reads around 10V while running on the instrument panel, when i test it with a handheld voltmeter it reads 13.35V which to me says the alt is good, I replaced one of the brushes in the alt last year. The battery is new and everything seems to run fine until I turn on the headlights, then the volts drop way low, and cuts out.
I have read on this forum the volts when running should be 14+ should it really be that high? I also read they don't like rebuilt alternators but if it reads 13.35 is that not acceptable? |

Re: Battery Alt Issue?
Everyone says don't use aftermarket alt.'s because of this issue. I have a feeling if you put in a OEM your problems will go away. More expensive, but how much is your time and frustration worth.

Had this problem all last summer, as I believed my turned-out-crappy alternator was fine.
Do yourself a favor, save the headache and get a BOSCH alternator, along with at least a 750 cold cranking amp battery. This setup has worked wonders for me.
