auto to maual tranny swap

I have a 1992 cavalier 2.2l with an automatic transmission. And I want to go to the junkyard this weekend and get a 5 speed for it.What parts do I need for the swap?Tell m.e if I miss anything.5 speed tranny, cutch pedel, master cylinder, slave cylinder, shifter assembly, axles, ecm, wiring harness, and interior center console trim. And if any one has them step by step instrutions would be helpfull but arent requried. Also is $400 bad for all the parts for the swap?

Thanks,
Tim

Re: auto to maual tranny swap

Add shifter cables, mounting bracket for the clutch pedal, a different brake pedal. Clutch assembly, the discs, throwout bearings, etc etc. New mount fabrication for the manual to bolt up to frame, and housing to mate to the engine.

And that's if the drive shaft from engine will even spline up to the manual tranny.

Major re-fit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Call around a few shops, ask their advice first. Re the parts $$, so far, it seems not too bad, but then you are gambling on a used manual tranny. If you grab the clutch assembly, then you are doubling your risk. If you buy a new assembly, you will easily add 2 or 3 franklins.

Add a flywheel also. The clutch wont bolt on to the flex/drive plate. Or you could do something not many would do, clutchless manual, leave the TC in and put the manual over it! It would be hard to drive but it'd be unique. Seriously though. It's best to sell the Auto and Buy a manual. It'll cost you less!
