99 Alero Gas Gauge

It started off after i connected my neons, my gas gauge needle is all the way PAST the needle.. basically below empty but its not empty, it sits on the pin past full but on the other side.. Anyone know anything about this?

Yeah...after disconnecting the battery, this happens. It does it on a lot of GM vehicles. On my Malibu, I was able to stick a paper clip though the little hole where the TRIP RESET button was a maneuver the needle back, but on the Aleros, there is no where in the glass that you can stick a paper clip. I have no idea how do get it back in place on these.
