timing belt problem?

had timing belt replaced on 3.4L GTP. now idle is erattic, engine sputters a little and bogs down on acceleration at some speeds. starts ok and if pushed, seems to have good acceleration. is this timing belt related? is there an easy way to check the cam timing without pulling everything off again?

OK, just wondering. Do you have a Grand Prix 3.8 and a 3.4" pulley?

Motor is self timing. But I am having that same trouble with mine. I had a new nose drive put on. The belt was covered with SC oil. The shop that did the work, bought a new belt "in town". I think beft is too large and pulley is not hooking up right.
Good luck

Kid,

He's talking bout the pre 97 GTP's that had the 3.4Liter motor.

Hoot,

Dont know much bout timing belts but i think you should be able to pull the cover and see if the timing marks line up.

Do you start those like model airplanes? Like with your finger?
I don't even think of those. My GT (97) has a 3.8.
