Key Stuck in Ignition
Hello,
One more problem with my 1999 Saturn SL2. I have the key stuck in the ignition! I have had other Saturns and have tried to jiggle the steering wheel but it is just stuck in there very good and won't budge. I push it in and to the left, try to start the car, nothing works to get it out? Any help as to what I need to do and how much it could cost to fix? |

Actually I heard before that some GM vehicles will lock the key in the ignition, not allowing it to be removed, if there is a problem with the shift interlock and/or ignition cylinder. Im pretty sure you are going to need to bring it in to the dealership or a reputable shop.

might be too simple...
Dont force it! (you'll do more damage than good)
if its stuck there has got to be a reason. I know it sounds like a simple fix but are you sure you're in park... I had that problem and turned six shades of red when I relaized what I had done... backed in and stalled, set e-brake and couldn't get my key out because I was still in gear (man. trans.)...took 5 min. to figure it out yeah, i've heard it can lock the key in there too... was the key hard going in? were you driving and then key was locked in ignition when you stopped? are you sure it was the right key? If none of the above help go to a shop Last edited by mysatilac; 02-27-2005 at 07:30 PM. |

Re: might be too simple...
mom had that prob. with her 92. The gearshifter was in park, but car thought it was in reverse. Had to go to dealer to fix. Wasn't in the column.
