Re: 1st start in morning hard???
OK, thats deffinately a bad Idle Air Control Valve. was the replacement a WELLS brand (from autozone), I had this problem with my IAC a couple months ago and bought a new one from autozone (WELLS brand) and it was fine for 2 days then started doing it again. I knew that autozone aftermarket parts supplier wasn't that dependable on quality, so I decided I would try a different brand/different parts store, then I remember that this one had a warranty, so I decided I would take it back and get a new one (under warranty) and try it, then if the problem persisted I would go to another store. Well after replacing it the second time it did the trick, it's been about 2 months now and I haven't had any problems starting.
NOTE: "MAKE SURE YOU DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE BEFORE REMOVING/REPLACING THE IAC." I forgot to d/c the battery when I replace my IAC (the 1st time), but the 2nd time I made sure of it, This may or may not have affected it. |

Re: 1st start in morning hard???
yes the IAC is located on the back of the Throttle Body on the 5.2L/318ci. No, it is too late to d/c it now if it was not before it was replaced.
some people have also had success by just cleaning the throttle body and ports with throttle body cleaner. |

Re: 1st start in morning hard???
Yes, I had this same problem in my jeep. and I started tracing it back what did I do the night before that may have made it do this, then I thought I figured it out (I thought), it was only doing it when I was facing downhill (odd I know) so I parked facing up hill, this worked for like 5/6 days straight then it started again, and shortly after that it did it about 95% of the time, and when it wouldn't stall, it would start then the idle would drop real low then kick back up and go real low and back up again for about 30 seconds-1 minute before it would smooth out.

Re: 1st start in morning hard???
You might also want to try to clean the Throttle Body thoroughly, before posibly wasting money on a new IAC.
