97 lumina fuel injector install

If someone has knowledge of the correct procedure for reinstalling fuel injectors on a 97 lumina with a 3100 engine, could you please respond?
It would be greatly appreciated. Took my in jectors out had them serviced at NAPA. In the process of reinstalling them I damaged the fuel rail, and am about to do it again with new rail. I've been following Chiltons manual, but there vague on install. Do you install injectors into rail first? It seems that it takes alot of force to get injectors to seat in the intake manifold, if you install injectors in rail first. Thanks.

install in rail first then use a little vasaline around seals of injectors they slide right in but do a little force on each one so they all go in about same time

Yup, install in the rail first. It makes it easier, trust me. Just follow Logan's advice about the vaseline; just don't go overboard and get any on the face of the injector itself. Just the o-ring. When you lower the rail you'll need to adjust each individual injector to get the whole assembly to seat, but the weight of the rail should keep the adjusted injectors in the intake ports.

I'll agree. If you don't have any vaseline readily available, dip a q-tip in some oil and apply that to the o-rings. it works well also.

Thanks to those who responded ,for the great advice. Thought I'd add my own reply now that the job is done,so someone else doesn't have to have the same frustrations. 1st; there's a clip on the aluminum fuel rail (back section,nearest the firewall,)that connects the pipe from the front section of the fuel rail.Make sure you don't loose that clip, and be sure to install it when you reinstall the injectors with their clips,(if it should come loose or off.)It will leak fuel if you don't have that clip holding the pipe in place. Also make sure you put a new gasket on the upper intake manifold, and that you don't loose the throttle body gasket or the EGR valve gasket.Once your done with the injector reinstall, if you have idle problems that you didn't have before you did the injectors(either high or low idle,) there's a good chance that your gaskets aren't seated properly or one of your vacuum lines is off or not seated properly.
