what would happen if I launch the 3000GT at Redline ?

I am wondering what's gonna happen if I launch the 3000GT at the redline .. I've saw a video of matt monet breaking the Transfer case
when he launched his red stealth RT/TT but also I've seen in best motoring , a driver launchs the GTR at redline and nothing happened ..

Haha, kiss something good by. I say everyone have a few 5k+ launches in their vr4, but that puts SOOO much stress on the driveline, and the T-case is already ridiculously weak, so its a gamble, and if you make huge rpm launches a habit, start saving up now, because something will definantly break.

Well if you made everything strong then it wouldn't break most likely. I have a friend that went through 3 transmissions on his VR4 (he bought it new) from launching too hard. One of the launches was at 8k at the track...needless to say he didn't go anywhere.

Plenty of people have said that, but the fact is, there isn't all that much you can do.

I know there are a bunch of ideas circling around 3si.org, and things you can try, but realistically, even if you strengthen it up, the more you abuse it, the more likely it will be that things break.

You have the base or SL, right? If you do the tires will spin around 3k-3.5k. So, I've never launched past 3.5k, cuz I'll just sit there. You don't want to put another transmission in, it cost me 1.4k.

I did it for 2 years on a 91 with a stock 18 spline. 2 years after getting rid of it it's still purring.

Don't always assume everything will fall to peices. Most don't.
And for every TC you see Matt snap, there are Hundreds upon hundreds of 7000+RPM launches he has done where nothing broke.

I have done about i think 10 6k drops and 2 to 3 7k and one almost redline drop and all i did is burn out my clutch and i had to put a new one in. BUT EVERYBODY NEEDS TO TRY A 7k drop, it is the shit. It was great because my car got perfect traction and just went like bullet, ohh man when i did that i was racing a Z06 and the guy stop racing me and gave up because i got him so bad off the line. and thats when my car was stock. It puts a real good imperssion on people that own Z28s and Firebirds and they dont now anything about vr4s and they think its some V6 crappy japanies car that gets good gas mileage. I think i have the most fun beatin domastics all the time.

well, the first day or i think was the second day i got my car i went over to my cousins house and he has a 1995 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo with aftermarket catback, intake, chip to take his psi to 14 psi from 9 i think, and my car was bone stock and even when i got my car i thought he is just going to rape my car. I did now some about AWD cars and how it gets a real good traction of the line but i did not have a clue that it would be that fast and it would help that much. anyways we get lined up and we go, i droped it at 6 or 5 and 1/2 k rpm and ohh ya this car was my first manual car so i really dident now how to shift and how to go off the line but i still got him till 100mph. And boy he was pissed off like a bitch. Then he wanted to race me again and again and I keep beatin him and the only smart thing i did was not to go over 100mph because i knew he would of catched up. Then before the final race that we did he kept talking shit still and talking about how i barely beat him and all that bull shit so i got tired of him and i went to 6 and 1/2K rpm and droped the shit out of it and i beat him like just beat a fuckin civic. Then just like the Z06 he gave up. now he went and done some resarch about my car and he dosent want to race me off the line and what i told him that its ok I wont race in the hightway but the funny thing is that we are going to go to track and we are going to race then and we are going to go off the line again LOL.

But tell you the truth i dont really going to drop my car higher than 4 and 1/2k because i just like my car to much and i dont want to mess up my tranny. BUT BOY IT FEELS GOOD WHEN YOU BEAT TWO 400HP CARS SO BAD THAT THEY DONT WANT TO RACE YOU ANYMORE.

matt monet pushes more horsepower then probably anyone on this board...so obviosly he is more like to break a tc. I have launched my 92 TT from 5500 about 30 times and nothing happened..but on the 31st the clutch glazed and the output shaft turned into a perfect circle
