99 Deisel Grand Cherokee oil Pressure probs

I have 99 deisel 2.4TD Grand Cherokee Limited manual trans 65000 miles which has a problem with the oil pressure guage going up and down although there is no change in engine temp or engine noise when oil pressure drops but when the engine is at operating temp its a bit noisy i am just about to change oil and oil filter do you have any more suggestions many thanks CPS

check the connection between the wire end terminal and the sender. Make sure that it is snug when you push it on the sender.

It could also be in the sender.

If you are concerned, have a mechanical gauge hooked up to see what the pressure is really doing.
