Car trouble - can't go over 50
Hi everyone I'm hoping you guys can help me out.
So nothing out of the ordinary has happened to my car in the past week. I normally drive 15 miles to and from work and usually don't go any more than 20 miles over the weekends. However this weekend I did some traveling and put about 160 miles on it over the weekend. no problems. Monday morning I start going to work again and my car starts shaking! I exit off the freeway and the car no longer shakes. Get back and and noticed that when i get near 50 mph my car starts shaking. I get off and drive on a side road going 45 to get to work. Anyone have any ideas what's wrong? |

Re: Car trouble - can't go over 50
Is the engine surging or anything when that is happening? Or is it more like a suspension kind of shake? Im not the best diagnostic guy but im just tryin to get a little bit of an idea so I can hopefully help you out some.

Well It basically feels like I have a flat tire my engine doesn't seem to act any differently than it normally would though.
I got out a couple times to check if it was but didn't see anything, during lunch i'm going ot look a little closer and see if i see any problems with the treads of my tires. Hope this helps |

Re: Car trouble - can't go over 50
The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is maybe one of the weights from when your tires were last balanced came off. I had a problem similar to this on my previous car, it drove normal up to about 40mph then started shaking uncontrolably. But im kind of doubting that because you seem like you drive your car like a sane person and it takes a good thrashing to lose a weight. Just an idea, you might want to go and push down on the car on all for corners to see if you hear any squeaking or any excessive play on any of the suspension parts. Just an idea wish I could help you out more. Im sure there will be some guys on here later who might be able to help you some more.

Well brought it in last night, took an inspection and they still couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. They decieded to do a tire rotation and then a wheel balance.
The wheel balance ended up fixing it. Not really sure how my wheel got out of balance over night, but oh well it's fixed! Thanks for the help |
