2001 Grand Prix.Engine.Icon

Recently had been driving on freeway after full-tank re-fill @ local gas stn whereby my Engine Icon (panel-light) lite...stayed on for the rest of day even after car decelerated down to regular street speeds.
My mechanic says it's related to the fuel-sensor but I can't see how this would be related to the 'engine-light"-(?).
Anyone else experience this?--
There was no* burning smell/visual from hood/engine whereby knew the engine was not-overheating (sufficient coolant etc).

Input appreciated. Mancini

Re: 2001 Grand Prix.Engine.Icon

there are many sensors under the hood that will trip the service engine soon light. that would be one of em.

listen to your mechanic. if he hooked it up to his computer and your car told him what it was. then have it fixed.
