Maisto Press Release

Fontana, CA. (February 15, 2005) – Maisto International, Inc.
Maisto International has released details about the latest Custom Shop 1:64 scale die-cast soon to roll off their production lines called G-Ridez Urban Die-cast Collection.
“Trucks, low riders, v-dubs, late 80’s and early 90’s So Cal scene - that’s what G-Ridez represents” says Ralph Benitez, Art Director and the creative force behind all of Maisto’s Custom Shop offerings.
The line of true 1:64 scale replicas will feature die-cast chassis, collectible trading cards featuring stylistic renderings of vehicles, after market licensed rims and rubber tires. The trucks will have removable tonneau covers. They will be sold in a clam shell package which graphically depicts the line’s roots.
“Growin’ up in Inglewood, CA was tough,” adds Benitez. “Havin’ a G-Ride meant you had respect ‘cuz everyone knew you were either legit or just comin’ up. Our approach to Custom Shop is the same.”
The G-Ridez Urban Die-cast Collection titles will include:
Buick Riviera
Chevrolet Monte Carlo
Ford F150
Chevrolet Silverado
Volkswagen Bug
Buick Regal Turbo
Titles will be available in multiple decos and many come complete with custom liquid paint schemes. Product is expected to be on store shelves in June of 2005.
The Maisto brand name was registered in 1990 by May Cheong, a vertically integrated manufacturer based in Hong Kong. The company has been manufacturing die-cast replicas for over 30 years, have over 11,000 employees worldwide and manufacturing facilities covering over 3,000,000 square feet.

Re: Maisto Press Release

How is a 2002 Silverado a Late 80s G-ride? Could be interesting but I think they can't pull off those paintjobs.

Cheaper models: Probably not anymore

High end models: Haven't seen any yet

I don't mind paying over $50 for a model these days...

They'll come up with anything these days.

I would like to see them pull off the paint jobs on those scales...
