Unhappy Engine ID 2000 contour need help

I have a 2000 2.0 Contour. I ordered an engine from a junk yard but
got the wrong one. Is there any way of proving it is not a 2000 eng.
I looked in a ford Contour repair manual and it said the id is on the front
side of block. The only numbers I see are RF975 or M6015 or 29K95.I called Ford and they said the numbers I gave didn't help.Im stuck with an engine i can't use.

Thanks
Mike

its a dohc 2.0 zetec with VCT, but that description can also be the ZX2 motor so you have to specify that its for a contour, if they cant tell from thaty then they are just stupid, and all i4 contours 98+ have the same motor.

Mind if i ask how you can tell its not the right motor?

Because the fuel rail is not the same and all the wire connections are
not the same.I checked with junk yards and they tell me it must be a 2000 year engine to fit a 2000 contour. Maybe this is a 97 thats what i'm trying to find out.

Thanks
Mike

Yep all post 98 contour motors are the same, All pre-98 are non VCT w/ EGR. Pre-98 motors won't fit in Post-98 tour's
