Angry 90 F250 Headaches

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have a 1990 F250 with E4OD tranny. (Given to me from my old man).
Problem: Tranny slips. When I put the truck into gear, the reaction time is very slow to engage. The tranny doesn't seem to engage all the way and moves slowly with accelleration (in all gears except 1).
Ohter notes: The column shift lever moves stiff.
Once moving the truck travels fine but tranny still slips with accelleration.
When pulling out from a complete stop, the truck will shutter with a lot of accelleration, unless in low gear when it works fine.
The tranny was suppossedly rebuilt about 10,000 miles ago (98,000 on the truck)

This is just the first problem, if I get this fixed I will continue to fix the truck up. It is in great shape and has a strong 5.8L engine. Some issues with the fuel system and exhaust though.

Any ideas if this is a simple fix or a complete tranny issue (too expensive for me)

check your tranny fluid. make sure it full check the color red or pink is fine but brown or black means you have a bad clutch pack or torque converter and will need rebuilt
