overheating problems

I just got a new rebuild and it keeps getting HOT. Yesterday I must have come very close to boiling the coolant. I do not want to void my warranty. I think its the thermostat, but am not sure. It will drive fine for quite a while, then the temperature rises real high real fast. Clutch fan? Air in the radiator? Please help. Also how does the thermostat come out in an s13. Looks like the housing is attached to the intake manifold?

if your fan clutch works, when the car gets hot, the clutch would lock up and your car would sound like a truck ( with the fan whirling ).

might as well change everything, a thermostat cost like 6 bucks, and while your at it you can fill up the coolant and bleed out all the air casue thats the main reason why it overheats most of the time in our cars. the termostat is in that small housing where the upper radiator hose connects too. its held on by 3 bolts.

Re: overheating problems

My bet is on air bubbles. When you first fill the coolant, you should allow the engine to run with the climate control set on as hot as it will go. Then you should add coolant as required while letting the car idle. Should take about thirty minutes.
