85 GMC 3/4 ton 350 won't crank hot

85 GMC 350 works and runs great, better than my dodge, but it won't crank (much like my dodge) after i shut down, after going great distances in 1st or 2nd gear. But once it cools, it starts up like new. Did put a solenoid cover on because of how close it was to the exhaust, but still have the problem. any help would be greatly appreciated.

time to pull apart your starter and put some bushings in it. you can get a rebuild kit for cheap, its getting heatsoaked and binding....
