Replacement

WARNING:

Do not smoke while working on fuel system. Keep open flame away from your work area.
While replacing the fuel filter, be careful to keep a safe distance between battery terminals and any tools
.

-Open the gas cap, and vent some of the built up pressure.
-Place a shop towel under and around the fuel filter.
-Relieve fuel pressure.
-Remove the 12 mm banjo bolt and the fuel feed pipe from the fuel filter, while supporting it with the another wrench, as shown.
-Remove the fuel filter clamp and fuel filter.

Install the new fuel filter in the reverse order removal, and note these items:

When assembling, use new washers as shown.
Clean the flared joint of high pressure hoses thoroughly before reconnecting them.

Re: How to change Fuel Filter

To relieve the fuel pressure:

1.Locate the fuel pump electrical connector which is underneath the back seat so you have to pull the seat out. There you will find a large thin cover, underneath is the fuel pump... disconnect the wires.
2. Start the engine, let it run until it stalls.
3. Unscrew the fuel filler cap to relieve any pressure.

Buy a Haynes Repair Manual. It's helped me with my Civic. If you want to check it out go to www.cardomain.com/id/bluehaze13

How many miles should you put on it before you replace it? 50-60,000 sound rite?

Honda says every 30,000 miles. But I changed mine around 55k. No big deal. I wasn't having any performance issues, I just replaced my fuel rail with an AEM one and put in an AEM adjustable fuel pressure regulator. I figured I might as well be safe, and go the extra mile. You can buy an oem fuel filter from any autoparts store for about 20 bucks. Good luck!
