GSR or ITR, swap candidate
If I were to swap in a b18c engine, should I go for the GSR or ITR? What is the difference between the engine internals?
Is it cheaper to buy the GSR and replace the parts with ITR or better? I know the ITR is not good for FI because of the high compression, so thats why I want to know if it's better to get a GSR engine and replace parts then add FI. Instead of wasting 2k more for the itr engine. I will also bore out the engines to 84 mm or 84.5 and place new pistons. Would that change the rod and stroke ratio? Thanks. Should I be posting this in the integra section?? ![]() but this is to swap into a civic... |

Re: GSR or ITR, swap candidate
If you want to go f/i, the GSR motor is probably best of the two. ITR is all about all motor madness. GSR's motor can be easily tuned up for f/i applications and is the best value of the two as well.

The GSR IMO would be better also. It would be better to turbo than a Type R motor. If you just want crazy power then yea go for the Type R....but expect to pay about $6000 for the Type R and about $3000+ for the GSR.

I agree. Get the GS-R b18c1. You'll save money right off the bat, with plenty of room to modify and upgrade later.

Want to save yourself a TON of time and money? Dont even play around with boreing out the GSR, you are going to spend WAY too much money to get it once its all said and done... and for the same amount of money you could pickup a CRV/VTEC swap and most likely a TURBO on top of that. From what I hear a bore job is not a cheap matter, not to mention all the stuff that comes along with it, pistons, blah blah blah... I say if you are looking for turbo and power, CRV/VTEC swap is the way to go. Dont believe me? Check out this dyno chart... lets not forget that this isnt even boosted... with some boost you could expect 300hp+

Another reason to get the B20 is the bore size is already 84mm.

), I would go with the gsr (B18C1) or even a B16A. If you want to go all motor, go with either Type R engine (B18C5 or B16B).
