More power out of an 89 Custom Cruiser?
I`m posting this for a guy I work with. He has a 1989 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser Wagon with a 307 4bbl in it. He is looking for ways to get a little more power out of it for cheap. Also he wants to keep it emissions legal.

Re: More power out of an 89 Custom Cruiser?
engine drop.....or well the obvious:
Do a COMPLETE TUNEUP FIRST. That would include: Delco Plugs Delco Wires Delco o2 sensor air filter fuel filter PCV valve Then for power: Less Restricted intake system 2.5" Magnaflow HIGH FLOW cat (to keep it legal) 2.5" Magnaflow/Flowmaster muffler Different Carb setup This is a VERY HEAVY CAR. much heavier than the H bodies (3800'd cars) you might ask for actual engine modifications over at http://www.oldsconnection.com since I know little about that engine. Do what I said and it should be getting up a little faster. |

Re: More power out of an 89 Custom Cruiser?
Thanks for the info. The exhaust on these Olds has that wierd Y pipe where one manifold crosses over to the other before it gets to the cat. I would imagine there is a lot of power to be had be changing that set up.

no actually there would not be. I would do a FULL tuneup with O2,filters,plugs,wires,etc get a magnaflow cat on ebay for $50 or so and see how it is then.
