Did the B20Z come out of the new CRVs? cause i know that the B20B came out of the 96-99 CRV. You may wanna check out http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...age&item=30025 and send them an email asking if the can get a a B20Z

only if you order a tranny will it come with a tranny. i think he is starting with a b16 setup and eventually moving up. i think right now he is collecting info

http://www.osakajdmmotors.com/ they don't have it listed on their site. however, the dude i talked to at SEMA said he can get anything. i suppose it's worth a try

you could try and contact this place too... http://www.nippon-motors.com/

Re: B20Z's are really hard to find

I e-mailed hmotors and they want me to call the shop, so I will do that tomorrow.

the b20z came in the 99-00 CRV.. so I am sure most of those are still on the road. Being a Honda I doubt many people are just throwing them away.

I've also heard that there is a 146 HP B20B but I read that on Honda-tech and didn't relaly have much other information.

As far as the b16 is concerned.... I think a b20 would be better. I don't care how long I have to save for.

Re: B20Z's are really hard to find

The only advantage of the B20Z, is slightly higher compression.

But, they usually cost $300-$400 more than a B20B. Why not get a B20B, and for $100 get a HKS high comp head gasket, and make up the difference?

ITS BECAUSE EVERYONE WANTS ONE. No one told you?!

2-3 years ago they weren't that hard to come across, but demand > supply means inflating costs and rarity. Good luck finding one.

Osaka sucks. Their motors are dirty as hell and beat. A guy I know got one from them, when he took off the valve cover it was disgusting and he didn't get a lot of the parts that were supposed to come with it. He couldn't even get them to send him the right parts because they guy who kept answering the phone couldn't speak english. I've read many many similar things happening over at H-T forums. But I've also heard if you go to their store, they will give you a good motor (because they can't cheat you if you're right there, unless you don't know what you're doing).

So what you expect them to open up and clean the inside of every motor? Also how do they know they are "beat". Do you know how a car has been driven by looking at the out side of the motor? I have heard plenty of people get good motors from them.

Re: B20Z's are really hard to find

Of course there's no way to know how a motor is by just looking at the outside of it. But I at least expect them to open the motor and see if there is damage done to it before selling it. And if it was caked in black "oil" that has solidified, I'd expect that they would clean it up at least a little. And the guy I know knew the motor was beat when he took off the oil pan and there were tons of metal shavings in it. And when they have something on their site like this; "All our engines are hand picked and we strive to have the cleanest, lowest mileage JDM engines available to anyone in North America." then yes I would expect that the motor actually be clean and not covered with sh*t inside and out. He couldn't even install the motor without completely rebuilding it. 1 or 2 (I can't remember how many so let's say 1) of the rods were bent and some of the stock sleeves were scraped up... aka beat motor. I haven't heard of many other companies selling motors like that. Maybe the guy I know and the others I've read about online were just unlucky, but I still wouldn't trust them.
