Question shaking in the rain!

A few times now i have noticed, that sometimes when it rains (and in fact i think one other time when it was a nice summer afternoon) when i begin accelerating, (for example: from a stop sign) my car seems to shake, it feels like the engine is shaking. Anyone have an idea why this sometimes happens?...it's a 98 Z24 manual trans
Thanks

Have you changed your plugs and boots lately? It could be that! Or it could be fuel starvation. So some injector cleaner and a new fuel filter. This is all maintenance stuff anyhow but can cause a lot of problems if not done.

Hey thanks for your input. Question, what are boots? and is it possible to apply the injector cleaner and fuel filter myself? or does it require going to a shop? Thanks again

The cover on top of you motor that sayds 2.4 twin cam is called the IDI plate (integrated direct Ignition) Basically eveypart of the igntion, coils etc are built into a unit on the underside of this. If you remove the four retaining bolts, and pull the plate off. Either the boots will stay on the idi plate or on the plugs. They replace spark leads and are about 4" in length 2 pieces and are rubber with matel innards. If they stay on your plugs just use needle nose pliers to pull them off the plugs are beneath. The boots mayt be avil at Auozone or euqiv but they may have to order them in! They usually sell them individually fomr some strange reason! when replacing it. attach the boots to the plate and slowly lower it looking through the gap the locat the ends of the plugs. don't force it on though it's go in with some light tapping! The injector cleaner, you just pour into your gas tank before you fill it. STP or similar Wal-mart sell this for a couple $. The fuel filter you can probably get in wal-mart too! But best Autozone. It is beside the fule tank underneath inside the left frame rail and is a canister with 2 pipes coming from it. If you buy it first you'll see what it looks like, But it wont cost much to have done! Don't let them say more than their min labour charge though! It takes no time. You have the release the fuel pressure to replace it!
