96 Laredo, transmission, acceleration, or sensor problem
Hey guys,
Had great success on this board. I have a 1996 Jeep Gr. Cher. Laredo, 4.0L 6cylinder with just 88k. The problem is that the vehicle does not accelerate well at all. The vehicle shifts fine at 3rd and 4th, but takes a bit longer to get into 2nd gear. When you 'floor it' and give it a lot of gas, it really doesn't start the acceleration until 2000 rpms, then everything is fine. Shifting is fine, I have been driving at 75 no problem. Reverses fine, just very poor acceleration. I have heard that may have something to do with a sensor, no check engine lights though. Any ideas? Thanks. -Anthony |

Pull the codes on it. The check engine light may not be on but codes may be present.
Have the Throttle Position sensor checked, it may be bad. I had a 92 Cherokee that had similar problems, I replaced that and the coolant sensor as the diagnostic said those were suspected bad. |
