rebuilt tranny trouble

well i just installed my new transmission and have driven about 100 miles, at first it was normal, but now it seems my kickdown is messed up and i have adjusted it but nothing has changed. what happens is when i start going the car goes to about 5000 rpms then shifts to second and then the other gears shift normal, but if i punch it at like 70mph the kick down goes to first gear which makes the car just rev up to the rev limiter. any ideas or experience with this problem?
