27,000 miles and leaking oil allready?
I am about to fix an oil leak on my friends 2000 Camry XLE V6. I was wondering if it was common for these cars to develop oil leaks after only 28,000 miles. It seems that he has been going through a quart every few days. Any pointers or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks....

that is strange- should not leak at 28K.
where is the leak originating from ? oil pan gasket?, distributor seal?, head gasket?, crankshaft?, |

Re: 27,000 miles and leaking oil allready?
Don't forget the obvious; either the oil filter or oil pan bolt could be loose. Hope for one of those two; they are the cheapest and easiest to fix.

Re: 27,000 miles and leaking oil allready?
No it's not the pan bolt or the filter, but the good news is that it is also not the crankshaft seal. I opened up the timing cover to see if the belt had any traces of oil on it, but it was cleand and dry. I'm thinking it's either the no.1 oil pan or possibly the Oil pressure sensor? Can't quite tell, but it seems to be comming from the area right around where the crank shaft pulley is.

Re: 27,000 miles and leaking oil allready?
Process of elimimation.... It's not either of the oil pans (I just finished removing and re-sealing both of them) I think that my leak is either the oil pressure sender or possibly the oil pump? At any rate...... I'm starting to get frustrated with the whole thing.
