Re: governer on 93 shadow??

You have to remove the transmission oil pan, and valve body to access the governor on 3-speed A-404/413 model transmissions. It's sitting on the transfer shaft by the differential. Also, you'll need to remove the differential cover to access the centrifigal weights on the governor. Do you have a sticky governor on your car?

Re: governer on 93 shadow??

You'll have to go back to Chrysler to get the governor; it's only $54, well that's how much I shelled out for my '92 Spirit w/ the same transmission. Easiest way to tamper w/ it; when mine was acting up, when I came to a stop, it would stay in 3rd gear, I had to pop it in low just to get it going again, do that for a while and it'll fix it right up, normally. This is a last option, and you have to be very careful, something I tried one time when I used to work for an independent tranny shop: going about 15 MPH, put the tranny in park then immediately go back to drive; the parking sprag usually will free whatever's sticking to the governor but if you're aren't too sure how to do that, DON'T DO IT!!! It's not worth screwing up your transmission. Just try the downshifting thing for now and see what happens; it'll buy you a little time before you have to drop the oil pan and valve body to replace the governor.
