96 Jeep Grand C stalling once again.
Hey guys...
I got one day in of no stalling.... this morning...... it died on me while warming up. When I did restart, it started right up. I took it back to the mech who just did the fuel pump.. he asked me to come back tommorrow...so he could have it for a few hours... I left out.. went to the local post office... on my return, I let the car idle as I went through my mail. About 5 mins later the car died on me. This time it wouldnt start up unless I turned the jeep on for about a min before starting up. It started up.. but died shortly afterwards.. in which l did the previous.. but this time I noticed I had to put the accelertor petal on the floor before it would start. I feel bad for having a fuel pump changed for 350 when Im starting to think if I would have did what Im doing now to get it started would have worked. Whats more sicking is the fact that it still stalls... At the mercy of the mechsssss I cant wait till my scan tool comes! Flustered FB |

Re: 96 Jeep Grand C stalling once again.
When my fuel pump went out ('94 Jeep GC), the car was DEAD. I couldn't even get it running for a minute.
I had similar stalling problems when my battery died, and I also needed a tune-up (around 90,000 miles). A tune-up might be a good start (if they haven't checked this already). This would consist of new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, and clean fuel. If that's been done and you still have problems, it might be something electronic. Let us know what you find. |

Ok gents........
I dont know how to say this.... because if this has been the cause of my problem... Im going to be pissed. As you know ... my jeep was cutting off on me...... the mech found that the connector on the back of the coil had a broken locking latch. He put some zip tie around it to secure it.. and outside of the funny burnt plastic smell... I have about 4 hours on it with out any stalling. Stay tuned... will report back next week after I am past the repair bubble.....
Thanks for all your help, lets hope this is it......btw.. got my scan tool in... cant wait to hook it up and see what the obd2 can do! Have a great weekend, FB |
