3sx Pulley and 100k maintenance

I am going to be doing the belt replacements and all that fun stuff soon. I was wondering if the 3sx pulley was worth the money. Here is the link (http://www.3sxperformance.com/engine.asp). Does it really free up that much power to the wheels? It sounds good since it does not have the drawback of being an underdrive pulley (I plan on running a nice system). However, since I am on a budget I really would prefer to waste money in things that will have noticable results. Also, would it be good to get the Gatorback belts as well? $40 for belts seems kinda expensive but it may save me time since I have had a hard time getting parts for my car. Any input would be great. Thanks.

Well it says between 8 and 16hp...that sounds like a pretty decent difference to me, especially for the money. I've never been a fan of pullies myself, but that was with the 5.0L whose engine already ran hot, so I avoided them.

Re: 3sx Pulley and 100k maintenance

Unorthodox Racing lightened underdrive pulleys can provide gains of 5 to 12 HP and 4 to 8 lbs.-ft. on normally aspirated engines and 8 to 16 HP and 8 to 18 lbs.-ft. On forced induction engines. These are average gains

Stock: 6.7 pounds,
3SX: 1.7 pounds,
Unorthodox: 1.5 pounds

So I'd say the gains would be only a slight bit less than those expected from the UO underdrive pulley. So I think it would be worth it. As far as Gatorback belts...I don't know anything about these, so I don't know what advantage they have over normal belts...

Actually, I ran a search on the belts and found out that they are manufactured by Goodyear. Apparently, they are useful for engines that are supercharged since it helps to reduce slippage. I don't have that particular problem with my car so I'll probably skip those belts ($40 for the belts isn't really that much of a deal either). Gains of 5-12 from a pulley don't sound too bad. Especially when you consider that some intakes cost about that much and give fewer gains. Now I just need to save up the grand for the labor costs...
