Talking Keyless Remote/Start Question

I just bought a 03 Durango R/T. I was told by the dealer it was fully loaded except for remote start. Anyway, through fluke, I discovered it does have remote start...I just don't know how I did it! I tried various combinations and nothing started it up again. I don't have the Manuel either. I know I held the lock button down for a few seconds when it started up...help!

Thanks!

I can help. Tell me, what kind of remotes do you have? Also, look under the hood to see if there are any warning lables that talk about a remote starter. If so, look at what brand it says. Once you find that out, respond back. I do all kinds of remote starters both retail and wholesale for dealerships.

You say you know about remote starters... well, I bought a 98 Durango w/an auto start installed. It works ok but no security and range needs improving. I would like some sort of security included. Before the install I guess it had a factory security. Now since the install it only has auto start and keyless entry. How can I include security? The remote says Direct Electronics(DEC) but the paperwork given to me at sale said "Valance". Also would you know what kind of factory security this 98 D would have?? Intrusion.. Shock.. starter kill.. etc?

OK, do you mean that the paperwork says "Valet" or "Valence"? DEI or Directed Electronics Inc., is the brand that I carry. It is one of the best depending on what you actually have. Do you have an antenna up by the rearview mirror? If so, does it look like it will unplug? Also, on the remote it should say "Valet" too unless you are using the OEM remotes. If you are using the OEM remotes, yes, range will suck and there's nothing to do about it. If you have different remotes, usually fresh batteries and a little tweaking will take care of it.

OEM alarm would be intrusion only. Roll down the window, get out, lock the door then close it. Wait about 30 sec. then reach in and open the door, the alarm should go nuts. You should be able to shut it down by either the remote or key in the door and unlock it.

Hope this helps so far.
