Re: does this seam worth the money?

the thing you have to keep in mind is alone the gains may be minimal... but you start doing other things to the car, like a nice lumpy cam, or a supercharger with that setup and its more worth while...

Re: does this seam worth the money?

over $1000 for I/H/E is way too expensive...you can get a custom 2.5 inch exhaust for a few hundred, dc headers for like $150 or something off ebay, and intake for $100+ (depending on if it's a cold intake or not). The only way you will get good gains is either going Forced Induction or by bumping up compression and building up the engine.

But to answer your question, i/h/e is a great (and necessary) first step to helping your engine to breathe and open up ways for more upgrades, but you can do it without spending so much money. Shop around. And with the money you save you can buy more worthwhile things for your car

And don't pay attention to the "hp gains" you get from i/h/e. They're almost always wrong.

Re: does this seam worth the money?

Depends if its "worth" it to the person spending the money.

To me, no, not even close. But some people seem to think its worth it obviously..

Re: does this seam worth the money?

i got my cold air for $50 shipped on ebay. Its a little harder to get an exhaust but for hatches and crx's you can get em for cheap from ebay too, of course theyre not the best but who cares. And headers are easy to get too. Those ssautochrome headers seem pretty promising.

Re: does this seam worth the money?

The guys at Import Tuner (and all the magazines) love to spend money so they don't give a f*ck about shit like that. I seriously doubt any rational person is going to spend over a grand to make 10hp/tq...

Isn't a "factory honda resonator" only like 1.5" in diameter?

Is that the D16A6 build up that they did? I have that issue, but haven't looked through it in a while...

If that is the article where they built up the A6, then there is NO WAY that comparison is worth the $$$.

For less than a grand you could swap in a bone stock D16Z6 or D16Y8 (even cheaper if you have an Si) and have twice as much of a gain as you would if you bought those bolt-ons.

Re: does this seam worth the money?

I guess that's to the wheels. And yeah, it's a lot of money. I hear ceramic dc headers go for $150 on ebay now. A decent cold air intake (with a clean bend in the "to the bumper" piece) can be gotten cheap (unless you shopped where I did). A custom cat-back set-up can be done for less than $200 with a decent canister or dynomax turbo (oem style) muffler. Let's see that leaves you with another $500 to spend on stuff like pulleys, a beefier cam and maybe a fpr. Then you'd have all that I have minus the fpr and would be able to keep up with any stock z6.
