Rear axle compatability
I'm looking to replace the rear axle on my 97 Tacoma 4x4 ext cab w/ ABS. Does anyone know if an axle assembly off a 99 4 Runner would fit assuming it is also 4x4?
The guy says the 4 Runner was also a 4x4 w/ ABS but the ratio is 3.73??? Thanks, Jason Last edited by jmitchell151; 02-03-2005 at 09:28 PM. |

It probably won't be a direct bolt in. 4Runners use a coil spring rear suspension while Tacomas have leaf springs. There aren't that many axles that you can't fit on a leaf spring system but you might have to fabricate mounts for the spring pads at least and probably a few little things like the parking brake and the brake balancer. Unless you're looking for a project keep looking for a Tacoma axle.
