1993 cluster gauge swap
Does anyone know if it is possible to put a newer instrument cluster into an older chevy? Mine is a 93, but this would pertain to 91-94. I think that many are in agreeance that the newer clusters are better. Somewhere I heard that 91 or 92 through 98 are interchangeable, but I'd like to know before purchasing one

Re: 1993 cluster gauge swap
Good Luck! I was thinking of doing a similar thing, did some research, and decided it wasn't worth the hassle. It looked like you could get decent functionality out of the newer gauges, but I dont know if it would be perfect. To do it you'd have to pull the wiring diagrams for both sets and see how to match which wires to which wires. I don't believe that the 1998 has any digital instrumentation, so it should all work. Then buy the new gauge cluster and the wire loom that plugs into the back of it (Ebay/wrecking yard.) It also looks like you might have to make up some custom brackets or modify you dash setup to accomodate the new cluster. If you decide to give it a try definitely let us know. Good Luck-

Re: 1993 cluster gauge swap
I am looking at an instrument cluster out of a 95 C\K, and it does not have a tachometer. So if the unit will "bolt in" without too much trouble and the gauges work, I will let everyone know. It seems to be a popular desire these days. I'm thinking about installing an aftermarket tachometer, anyway.
