Manual or Tiptronic

I just want to know which is the best combination for the GPX? The manual or the Tiptronic gearbox, is the Tiptronic gearbox as good as the manual shifting through the gears? Which model should I buy?

Well for me I would go for the tiptronic, purely because it's great for city driving which is mainly what I do. For me it's the best of both worlds. (in fact, my next car, a Nissan Skyline R34 GT-t will also be tiptronic).

A lot of people prefer the manual and after a while wish that they had got the manual if they went for the tiptronic, but not so for me. I think the tiptronic was the best thing ever brought out.

If you get the chance, take out both and decide for yourself because in the end it all comes down to personal preference.

are u handicapped or something? do you not have the ability to shift with the hand and the foot at the same time? In no way does the automatic shift-tronic tranny compete with the good old clutch and stick.
All cars 0-60 times with an available shift-tronic are at least half a second slower than the manual. that would be around a full second on a quarter mile run. The shift-tronic still has the delay of the auot trans even when u shift up or down, making it alot slower. So stick with the manual, until the cvt technology comes out. (unless ur a granny shifter anyway)

I said it's personal preference, moron. If anyone's handicapped, it's you - mentally. Who gives a rat's arse if it's half a second slower; it's a hell of a lot more pleasant to drive in bumper to bumper traffic - like I said

And btw, CVT is already out, dickweed, and it sucks rocks. It can't even handle as much power as an auto box, let alone a manual one.

What planet did you come down from, and why don't you just piss off back there? :rocket: :aug2: :badass:

u r right about the CVT not being able to handle much power, but that is y i suggested to wait for the technology to be refined. If it came out differently in the text, the nit was a miswording on my part. also, cvt currently it is only out for audi production cars. and nowhere can u yet find a cvt tranny switch.

but i must wonder about the fact that you do not think half a second in 0-60 is not a big deal. You are right about the easier driving in traffic for automatics, but if that is what u are looking for, and that .5 sec lag doesnt bother you, why do you have such sweet, purebred, built for manual cars?

The CVT has come out in some Nissans already (Primera and Tino off the top of my head).

As for the sort of cars we have. They're grand touring cars and how does an Auto not fit that. I don't have mine to race. I have them to drive and it's damn quick. In fact it's just as quick as my husband's manual one and quicker off the line depending on how he launches it.

Why are so many drag cars auto if it's no good??

Anyway this is a pointless discussion that has been repeated far too many times and as I said, it is just purely personal preference. That's why I said for him to take out both if he could.

An interesting conversation,
and nice skyline, I have a project in mind and it involves putting manual conrtrol to a rather large cvt rated for 200+ hp in a 160 to 180 hp car.
Automatic options/controls included, but also the ability to move through the ratios as well. I cant wait to get to japan.

I love stick shifts too. Ive driven one since 12 years of age. to the point of shifting smoothly with no clutch at 2nd-5th gears. (and a car w/ 330k + miles on it)
When the cvt's gained popularity it was an endless search to see if some one made a manual mode with out triptronic included. Mini has a sweet Cooper with both.
Now that ive gained more knowlegde about mechanics, its my goal to make one for me in mind.
