Tire question
Hey..I'm new here. I have a question about plus sizing tires. My girlfriend has a 2000 Neon ES and she has 195/60R15 tires on the car. However, the door label on the car says 185/60R15 tires are ideal. We just got an oil change at Goodyear, and they said that we have the wrong tires on the car. What's the deal with this? Are we okay with the 195/60R15 tires? All of this plus one, plus two, plus zero stuff is all greek to me. Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks!! |

Sometimes people put tire sizes that are "close" to the size of the original tire because they are cheaper. The current tires you have will make the overall diameter of the tire larger. This will throw off your speedometer, but wont do any damage. What would have worked better is going with 195/55/15. This would keep the same diameter of the OE tire by giving a shorter sidewall along with the wider tread pattern. If your not looking to gain any handling or anything, then next time you change the tires put what it says on the door, no matter what the "tire experts" say.

Re: Tire question
well there is barly an error in your speed. the indicated speed on your speedometer is 65
the true speed your going will be is 66.29 your error is only gonna be 1.29 mph. so its up to you if you wanna leave it like that or not it wont damegew your car at all there just going to be better handling and add 1 mph for however fast your going |
